Introduction

The Architect of BKRSCLB

Raz Fresco is an independent hip-hop recording artist, music producer, and the founder of the collective and record label BKRSCLB. Hailing from the Toronto and Brampton area, he has built a reputation as a relentless creative force who seamlessly bridges the gap between hip-hop’s golden era and forward-thinking, independent music business. Praised by Rolling Stone as an "indie veteran [...] and inspired spitter with plenty of bars," his career is a testament to artistic evolution, technical mastery, and self-made success. From earning co-signs from legends like Raekwon and Pete Rock as a teenager to independently orchestrating international physical releases and proprietary tech platforms, Raz Fresco has carved out a permanent lane in the global hip-hop landscape.

2010–2015

The Early Era: Prodigy and The Bakersclub Movement

Bursting onto the scene as a teenage prodigy, Raz Fresco quickly captured the attention of the industry with his advanced ear for production and sharp lyricism. By 2013, at just 18 years old, he was featured in XXL Magazine’s prestigious "The Break," where he was celebrated for putting a new age spin on classic hip-hop sounds. During this era, he established the foundation of the Bakersclub movement, navigating a highly competitive Toronto music scene while earning the respect of local legends like Rich Kidd and securing early career collaborations with icons like Buckshot, Raekwon, and Pete Rock.

2016–2019

Knowledge of self: Philosophical Growth and Lyrical Depth

As his career progressed, Raz Fresco’s lyricism deepened, heavily influenced by the philosophies of the Nation of Gods and Earths (the Five-Percent Nation). This era, highlighted by the 2015 release of his "Pablo Frescobar" album distributed by Duck Down Music. This era marked a shift toward profound cultural and historical commentary. He viewed internalizing history and science as a key component of being a high-level MC, weaving these lessons into his rhymes to educate and inspire listeners. This period saw him fully stepping into his power as a conscious, dynamic writer who refused to compromise his message for mainstream trends.

2020–2022

the marvelous era: magneto was right and building the bakery

Transitioning from a rising underground star to a fully independent label executive, Raz Fresco expanded BKRSCLB into a self-sustaining powerhouse. He created and released an extensive catalog of hip-hop projects, most notably the ambitious nine-part album saga Magneto Was Right, alongside heavily praised albums like Marvelous Right Wrist, MAGNETIC, BOULANGERIE, Arm Leg Leg Arm Head, Gorgeous Polo Sportsmen.

Beyond his solo work, he produced entire album projects for BKRSCLB roster artist The 6th Letter, BriskInTheHouse as well as introducing new artist like Gritfall (at the age of 17) via his Griptape album (co-produced by Eric Right) and Funk Lo whom he produced a full album for. 202o would see the releaes of Raz Fresco's first album produced entirely by another producer; Futurewave. This would set the stage for a run of collaborative albums. He also established international distribution pipelines, releasing physical music on vinyl and cassette formats through boutique labels like Tuff Kong Records, Elephant Artillery, Novelty Records, and Vinyl Digital. As a producer, his technical versatility and knowledge began to shine through his use of different samplers and production methods including the use of the PO-33 (Pocket Operator) which caught the attention of Teenage Engineering themselves. This earned him a spotlight from T.E. for his release Pocket Operations II: Forty Seconds Only, an entire project crafted exclusively on the PO-33 K.O. sampler. This era is marked by the building of his home studio The Bakery and the forging of many new creative partnerships with producers worldwide.

2023–2025

International Connections: The Collaborative Era

Entering a new echelon of his career, Raz Fresco delivered some of his most critically acclaimed work through high-profile collaborative albums. He went on his first European tour in 2023 with Figub Brazlevič (and John Robinson) to promote their collab album" 777" travelling to 7 countries and linking up with Westside Gunn. To begin 2024 he spear headed the promotional campaign of Teenage Engineering's new sampler the K.O II by putting out Knockout with DiBiase (the follow up to their highly regarded Secret Wars album). He followed that up with the release of Northside with Daniel Son and Bakin Soul with Cookin Soul. In July of 2024, he released The Eternal Now, a full-length collaboration with legendary Cypress Hill/Soul Assassins producer DJ Muggs. The album earned a glowing 7.1 from Pitchfork and high praise from Rolling Stone, firmly cementing his status as an indie heavyweight.

He followed this in 2025 with Stadium Lo Champions, a hazy, psychedelic collaborative album with Futurewave that Pitchfork praised as feeling completely "outside time." During this period, he also orchestrated the Magnetic Right Wrist tour (a small run of shows in Canada) which featured the entire BKRSCLB roster at the time and Estee Nack.

2026–Present

present and beyond: WHY EQUALS SELF & The Digital Infrastructure

Marking a definitive new chapter in his artistic and entrepreneurial journey, the 2026 release of WHY EQUALS SELF showcases an entirely new level of creative and technical expertise. This monumental release is accompanied by an ongoing docu-series that offers an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look into his evolving process and overarching vision.

Stepping fully into the realm of tech and direct-to-fan commerce, this era is defined by a massive refinement of the BKRSCLB online infrastructure. Operating strictly outside the confines of traditional industry models, Raz Fresco launched a completely revamped BKRSCLB online store alongside a brand new RAZFRESCO.COM website. Most notably, this era brought the launch of THE BAKERY by BKRSCLB, a proprietary streaming app and independent platform offering fans exclusive catalog access for a $1 monthly subscription. Between architecting custom e-commerce integrations, preparing the release of Boulangerie Deux (featuring Blu, Cavalier, Estee Nack, Mike Shabb, and more), and expanding his self-owned digital footprint, Raz Fresco remains one of the most vital and completely self-sufficient voices in modern hip-hop.
